Date night with my Drewbe

On Friday night, Drew and I went out on a date.  There is nothing more that I love, besides a date with my husband, is a date with one of my kids by themselves.  Drew first wanted to go to Jumpys, rollerskating, and bowling but then we settled on Chuck e Cheese.  We played games, got tickets, got some junky prizes that he loved.  Then we headed over to Beacon of Hope.  I got a hot chocolate and he wanted a cookie.  We sat and talked over our snacks.  It is so fun to see him open up and tal when it is just he and I.  While we walked around the store, he spontaneously just grabbed my hand and held it while we walked.  I love that boy!  He is so sweet and loving.  I thought to myself, it won't be very long and he won't want or need to hold my hand anymore....  We finshed out date at Meijer doing the grocery shopping.  I let him scan the groceries at U-Scan and he loved it!!  What a great, fun night!

What's new???

What's new with Bejigo????
21 months old
His speech has really taken off the past few weeks.  His speech therapist was amazed at how much more he is saying.  He now says most body parts, food, water, milk, apple juice, pizza, hot dog, poo poo, potty, up, down, brush teeth, mama, dada, bus (for Kate's school bus), it's stuck, buckle (when you are trying to buckle him into his car seat), fish.  That's all I can think of right now.
He can now go down the steps independently on his belly.  He is trying to sing ABCs and daily sings "Oh no" for the song Oh no you never let go.  He tries to count but says one, one, one.  He is still a little snuggle bug and loves to give big hugs and shakes and grunts while he hugs you.  When he wakes up in the morning, he says dada, mama in his bed.  He is sleeping through the night 7:30 or 8:00 until 6:00 or 6:30 in the morning.  He is still napping and usually sleeps 2 hours.
We have made huge progress with going into the nursery at church.  He still acts like he does not want to go in but then only cries for a few seconds and then is o.k.
He no longer eats baby food and loves all of the junky stuff that Kate and Drew like.  When asked if he wants food, he usually says: hot dog, pizza? His favorites are hot dogs, mac and cheese, and chicken nuggets.
He still has absolutely the best belly laugh and loves to be tickled.  He sounds like a smoker though with a raspy laugh.  He is so adventurous and you have to watch him every second.  He is not scared of anything.  He is constantly into every cupboard, drawer, etc that we forgot to lock up.  He can climb up the slide on our swing set.
We love him very much.  It is hard to believe that he is almost 2 and has been with us for nearly a year now.

What's new with Drew????

I have been working hard with Drew on counting and his letters.  He likes to think that he has homework like Kate.  He is ready and excited for preschool.  He will be going to St. Teresa's in the fall and will have the same teachers that Kate had and loved!!!  He loves to play baseball and basketball and has been enjoying the warm weather.  We wanted him to play t-ball this year but he decided that he did not want to play defense.  So, we will try again next year.  He can now hula hoop and is very proud of this!

What's new with Kate????
She has been doing very well in school.  She is becoming a very good reader and likes to read at home.  Last week, she got to read to the principal at school and enjoyed this.  She was a runner up in a writing contest at school.  She went on her first field trip to the Kuss Auditorium to see several plays.  She is still in ballet but that will be winding down over the next few months.  She finished upward cheerleading and loved it!!!  She says that she wants to play upward basketball next year.  She is learning to dribble in school as well as jump rope.  Her teacher says that she is already ready for 1st grade.  It is hard to believe hat she is almost done with Kindergarten.

Baby Dedication

Last sunday, we had a baby dedication for Bejigo.  It was very special as we wrote a letter to him stating the type of person and the things that we want for him 16 years from now.  We also wrote letters to Kate and Drew as well since we did not do this for them when they were dedicated.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  Our family and friends were there to celebrate with us.

Valentine's fortune cookies

Just wanted to show you what I made today.  I got this idea from my favorite blog: http://www.babeofmyheart.com/valentine-blessing-cookies-a-worthy-repost/

If you want to see how to make these, just check out her website.  The are valentines fortune cookies that have a blessing or special verse inside.  They were super easy to make and the kids are excited to open up a blessing cookie each day leading up to valentine's day!!!

This valentine's box is also very cute.  Kate needed to bring in a valentine's box in for school and I found this super cute print out on: www.moneysavingmom.com

long time, no post

So, I haven't posted in a really long time.  We have just been busy doing life.  2 weeks ago we were all sick, that is everyone except Bejigo who sticks everything in his mouth and licks the bottom of shoes.  Maybe there is something to that.  After a week of cleaning up more human excrement than I ever care to again, I headed off to Atlanta for the Created for Care Conference for adoptive moms.  I would describe it as Women of Faith with 400 adoptive moms.  I met many wonderful women and came home feeling very refreshed!!!

To update on the kiddos, Kate is doing very well in school.  She just celebrated the 100th day of school and was supposed to bring in 100 of something.  Me being the mean mom that I am, I made her write 100 reasons why she loved Kindergarten and glue them to a poster board.  She just received the principal's award and was very proud to go up on stage.  Yesterday, she lost her 2nd tooth.  This week, my sweet girl turned 6 years old.  She is getting so big, but I am loving the little lady that she is becoming.  Kate is enjoying ballet and cheerleading.
PJ day at school

Drew is doing well.  That boy is ready for some good weather so he can get outside and play.  He loves baseball.  He is into his remote control cars right now.  We are working on spelling and writing his name to get him ready for preschool in the fall.  Did I mention he loves to dance and looks like a crazy man.

Bejigo has become a man of many faces over the past month or so.  He has the best expressions!!  Lately, he likes to look down and peer at you under the cracks of his eyes and then crack up laughing!!!  He likes to wave bye to everyone that we see.  He is now sleeping through the night, PTL!!!!  His speech progress has hit a plateau but he is repeating many things that we say.  He also loves to dance.

Greg and I are planning our vacations for the summer and looking forward to some relaxation!!!
